The Remix
Fast twitch muscle fibers, often forgotten in traditional body building programs also play a critical role in developing overall muscle size and strength. By training both fast and slow twitch fibers in order to develop a fuller muscle balance. Getting to know the difference between fast and slow twitch fibers and how to train them is nothing short of beneficial to building a balanced physique and a sure way to avoid size and strength plateaus.
If you are unsure how each system works, follow the chart below.

Use
Slow Twitch (Type I)
Aerobic – Oxygen required to produce energy
Lower power output but fatigue resistant. Used in long distance runs and endurance sports
Fast Twitch Red (Type IIa)
Anaerobic and Aerobic – uses both systems
Moderate Force, fatigability, power and twitch time.
Fast Twitch White (Type IIb)
Anaerobic – No oxygen required
Rapid force but fatigues quickly. High power and twitch time. Used in sprints and stop go sports such as hockey and soccer.

The Chemistry Behind Fast Twitch
In fast twitch training your body relies on the breakdown of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), creatine phosphate and glycosis. In the absence of oxygen (anaerobic training) these three sources of energy are depleted rapidly, and pyruvic acid forms from glucose and is reduced to lactic acid. This system will become depleted in approximately 8 seconds, depending highly on the intensity of the lift or interval, and slowing due to lactic acid buildup occurs. This build up is a sign of fast twitch muscle fatigue, and while improved lactic tolerance, increased quick energy stores and proper nutrition can aid in improving the rate at which fast twitch fibers fatigue, ALLMAX Nutrition can help you now.
LEUTOR70, a superior pre-work out supplement can help with muscle endurance in three ways. Firstly, one serving of ALLMAX LEUTOR70 contains 8180 mg of all 3 BCAAs in a scientifically determined ratio. Next, each serving contains 250 mg of pure KIC which binds to and deactivates damaging muscle toxins giving you the muscular endurance to push through higher intensity workouts. Finally, a full spectrum of B vitamins helps support protein synthesis and muscle recovery in your body.
In addition to gaining lean mass, the higher intensity training will turn your body into a furnace helping you maintain a tighter physique.
There are many ways to target the three systems, starting with cardio. Intervals training on the treadmill or outdoor sprints are a perfect way to train both the anaerobic and aerobic cardiovascular systems. In weight lifting, attempt to speed up the lift or push in a one second motion, and return the weight at a 4 to 6 count. In doing so you will be able to work both slow and fast twitch fibers created a larger burn with bigger gains as you develop a fuller muscle.
Other methods include plyometric movements such as jump squats, and power lifts like the clean and jerk. By including either method in your program will set yourself on the way to intense gains. So don’t be afraid to mix it up. Your body may be screaming STOP! But your mind now knows better.
