Taurine is an abundant intracellular amino acid in skeletal muscle and similar to creatine, Taurine draws water in muscle cells and acts as a cell volumizer. This in turn draws additional nutrients for recovery and growth, increasing cell volume and enhancing muscle fullness. And like Creatine, Taurine is not present in whey protein, whereas all other essential and nonessential amino acids are.

With intense exercise comes changes in electrolyte concentration both inside and outside of the cell, i.e. loss of muscle K+ and gain of Na+, Cl- and Ca2+. Detrimental changes in osmolarity are a consequence of membrane excitability driven by ion imblanace and cells combat this by manipulating organic osmolytes such as Taurine.

Taurine regulates water and mineral salts in the blood. It maintains movement of potassium, magnesium and sodium across the cell membranes and regulates ion balance between cells. Due to its ability to regulate electrolytes, it may play a role in preventing muscle cramping.

Taurine + Creatine: The PERFECT Cell Volumizers.

Taurine also plays a role in muscle contraction, as it has been shown to increase the rate at which the sarcoplasmic reticulum accumulates Ca2+ in both type I and type II muscle fibers. Thus, it enhances the ability of the muscles to generate force by increasing the uptake and release of calcium ions. Muscle contraction leads to an increase in nitric oxide synthase and/or nitric oxide (NO).

Increases in NO have been shown to enhance glucose uptake in skeletal muscles which may enhance exercise intensity and post-exercise recovery. Taurine plays a role in Nitric Oxide production (NO gas present during muscle contraction and blood vessel dilation) and therefore may enhance the workout session and lead to a more rigorous workout.

ALLMAX Essentials Taurine comes in a 400 g Container as a free flowing powder allowing you to add to anything you like. ALLMAX Essentials Taurine is a pure, flavorless, unsweetened white crystalline powder that mixes easily.

Similar to Glutamine, TAURINE can also be considered a conditionally essential amino acid during times of intense physical training when the body may require additional Taurine due to increased physical demand.

ALLMAX TAURINE is available in a 400 gram size.

Performance

Improves Mental Focus

TAURINE acts as a metabolic transmitter and is important for brain metabolism. It stabilizes the heartbeat as it is an inhibitory neurotransmitter, which helps to improve focus during training. It may also help to stabilize the cell membranes in the brain and heart.

Regulates Mineral Balance

TAURINE regulates water and mineral salts in the blood. It maintains movement of potassium, magnesium and sodium across the cell membranes and regulates ion balance between cells. Due to its ability to regulate electrolytes, it may play a role in preventing muscle cramping. TAURINE also plays a role in muscle contraction, as it enhances the ability of the muscles to generate force by increasing the uptake and release of calcium ions.

Cell Volumizer

Similar to creatine, TAURINE draws water in muscle cells and acts as a cell volumizer. This in turn draws additional nutrients for recovery and growth, increasing cell volume and enhancing muscle fullness.

TAURINE plays a role in Nitric Oxide production (NO gas present during muscle contraction and blood vessel dilation). This mechanism may enhance the workout session and lead to a more rigorous workouts.

Improves Body Composition

A clinical trial in which overweight and obese men were given 3 grams of TAURINE a day for 7 weeks experienced a significant reduction in serum fatty acid levels and overall reduction in bodyweight.
It was hypothesized that TAURINE may enhance fat metabolism by aiding in the proper functioning of the digestive system. TAURINE is a key ingredient in bile (it was actually originally named Taurus, which means bull or ox, as it was first isolated from ox bile) and is required for fat digestion.

In a study conducted on the link between TAURINE deficiency and obesity in mice, the researchers found that an increase in TAURINE in the body led to a greater rate of energy usage and reduction in the build up of fat. This study could lead to promising new research on TAURINE’s ability to play a role in the prevention of obesity.

A study posted in FASEB found several exercise-related benefits of TAURINE. Specifically, severe restriction of TAURINE reduced mobility of skeletal muscle, while supplementation improved skeletal functions and provided an energizing effect.
