An exciting welterweight title match is coming up on April 6 between two impressive Bellator contenders – ALLMAX athlete Douglas “The Phenom” Lima and reigning champ Ben Askren.
Lima is an incredible fighter and like any good athlete, he does his homework, studying his opponent’s past moves and wins to find out his strengths and weaknesses.
Being just one title away is great motivation for Brazilian-born knockout artist Lima, who will push his winning streak into the double digits with this victory.
Standing at 6 foot 1 and weighing 170 lb, Lima has been with Bellator since 2011 and has continued to impress fans with an undefeated streak in welterweight tournaments. With three straight wins, and a KO victory against former UFC fighter Ben Saunders, Lima is the perfect match for Askren.
“There is no question Ben is a great fighter, and I’ve been focusing a lot of time on my wrestling,” Lima said. “This is the biggest fight of my career, and I’m preparing for it. It’s all I think about. Every day from the time I wake up, until the time my head hits the pillow, I’m thinking about April 6th and winning the title.”
Lima is the 24th ranked welterweight in the world. He fights out of American Top Team Atlanta. Askren is the 15th ranked welterweight in the world. He fights out of Roufusport.
