Bio

Hailing from Astoria-Queens, New York, NPC Competitor and Fitness Model, Chris Villa is an independent personal trainer.

I was born in Washington Heights, New York. My family then relocated to the Bronx and later settled in Queens. I attended Aviation High School in Long Island City, thinking I’d be in the aviation industry, but by my junior year, I realized this wasn’t for me. After graduating, I took online college courses in pursuit of a criminal justice degree. With that degree I wanted to become a detective for the NYPD.

It was during my spare time between online courses that I really became interested in health and fitness. I devoted most of my free time to working out and it paid off. I was signed up with Silver Models Management (SMM). Through my work with SMM, I have been featured in several health and fitness magazines and have covers and spreads in both KRAVE Magazine and Men’s Fitness.

For the first two years of my training, I made the mistake of training my butt off and not eating correctly. I’m definitely an endomorph and my genetics are pretty good. My physique before was pretty husky and it’s easy for me to put on muscle, but when it comes to competition, I have to be very strict about my diet and cardio.

My mother has always motivated me. I come from a pretty fit family and my mother especially was into working out and kickboxing. Between the ages of 20 and 23, I was slowly starting to get heart problems and my mother would say to me, “Boy, you’re getting fat!” And that was it! I was on a mission to better myself.

When people tell me I inspire them, it makes me go harder than ever. This is a lifestyle – I call it the FitLife. You either live it 365 days or you don’t.

Currently, I’m in pursuit of an IFBB pro card in the NEW division – Men’s Physique. I placed third in my first show and third again at my second show for my chance to turn pro. I’m prepping now for Team USA in Las Vegas and hope the third time will be the charm.

That’s nine sets of each ab exercise. As far as reps, that’s a matter of personal choice and your fitness level, as each exercise is so different. Just make sure you’re feeling the burn.

What Do you Like to Do Outside of the Gym? I just like to relax and have a good time with my friends. I enjoy spending time with my family; they are everything to me. I’m a real chill, laid-back guy. I also like to catch up on current events and a few of my favorite TV shows. I like to stay organized and I do a lot of cleaning. My nickname is Mr Clean. I’m what I call a homebody; I’m not really into the party life or drinking. Just want to have fun, joke around and make the most of it with family and friends.

In addition to MY OWN time in the gym, I also do 1-on-1 personal training, nutritional meal planning, contest prep-help and supplement intake advice. I have many clients and a few celebrity clients.

Modeling has enabled me to work with such great photographers as Carlos Peralta, Luis Rafael, Rick Day, Carlos Arias and many others; you can view most of my portfolio on my personal FaceBook page. (http://www.facebook.com/Villafit).

What’s in your Gym Bag? My ALLMAX gear, my meals, lifting straps, supplements and my iPad.

How Did you get into Fitness:

During my time in school (before college), every day all I ate was French fries, fried chicken, fast foods and very rich Spanish foods. I started to get fat and was really out of shape and started developing heart problems. Then one day I made a commitment to myself to change.

This commitment started about ten years ago. Ever since I was young I had always wanted a six pack. So I joined a gym with the intentions of changing my eating habits and to get that six pack, but I never went. It was basically a New Year’s resolution that I never really followed up on.

But one day it hit me that I’m NOT seeing the results I wanted and also realized I was wasting money on a gym membership that I should be using to reach my goals, so I decided then and there to go every day before work, which was very hard for me having a 3 p.m. to midnight job.

After 6 months I was finally seeing results, it then became a crazy addiction because of the changes I was seeing. Ever since seeing the changes in my body, I have not looked back and I am now even more motivated to work out, so much so that if I miss a day, I don’t feel good.

Many of my friends know this about me and joke and some even think I’m crazy, but I’m seeing the desired results, and well, what they think just motivates me even more.

What Do you Love to Listen to when you Work Out: Mostly Hip-Hop and house music – trance and electronic – Avicii, Tiesto, Eric Morrilo, Deadmau5, Kaskade, David Guetta, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Eminem, DMX, Mobb Deep and a lot of other old-school Hip-Hop.

What Does Being an ALLMAX Sponsored Athlete Mean to You? Oh man, it means the world to me!!! This past year, it was a goal of mine to be sponsored by a supplement company. And the fact that it’s a company that I actually use their products and that I believe in made it even better. I’m so honored and truly blessed to be a part of such a reputable company such as ALLMAX. I plan to promote the brand as best as I possibly can to help the company grow, and to share my knowledge of their products to others within the health and fitness community. I’d like to say a very special Thank You to Randy and Kevin for believing in me and giving me the opportunity I always dreamed about.
